Silence is a rare find in my home, usually only coming in the late hours of night, gone with the first sunlight creeping through the bedroom window. It’s these times I thrive. I fall in love with the silence and every distant sound it’s presence invites.
In my living room with the window cracked slightly, a chilly spring breeze carries in the night. Lingering raindrops tease the leaves of the trees. Bushes rustle and wind chimes sing a slight melody. Frogs are headlining the main stage.
For those of you who’ve never heard frogs near water: You know the sound that the giant wheel makes on The Price is Right? The slow ramping beeps as the contestant slowly pushes up, then faster and faster as they thrust down – usually with all their bodily might – to spin the wheel. That moment when the wheel is spinning at it’s top speed is pretty darn close.
Uh oh, I think a fish might have snagged one. Have you ever heard a frog gurgle water?
